Should I Start A New Pill Cycle After Menstruating Midway Through My Current Pack?

Hi doctor Im 34 yrs old.i have been used femioln since 2 years.today is on 19th day of the pill.but i have started period today..there are 2 tablets left in the card .should i start a new card? Or should i start a new card after taking that two tablet?

Hello,

If you have missed any pills earlier in the pack or didn’t take them correctly, there could be a slight chance of reduced effectiveness, so be aware of that. It is breakthrough bleeding, which can sometimes happen while using birth control pills, if there’s a slight disruption in the pill cycle. You should finish the remaining two pills in the current pack.

This helps ensure that you continue getting the correct dose of hormones and that your contraceptive protection/effectiveness is maintained. Start the new pack thereafter, after you have finished the placebo pills of the current pack. If breakthrough bleeding continues, or if you're unsure about whether this bleeding is normal, get clinically examined by a gynecologist.
