Should I Switch To Bystolic From Metopropol For High Blood Pressure?

I was originally on 60 mg of metopropol for high bp...but my metabolic rate is so slowed that I have increasingly been putting on weight for over the last year. My dr. suggested switching me to Bystolic which she said may not affect my metabolic rate as much. But the dosage seems high with a 20mg pill daily. I have stress and anxiety. On metopropal my hear rate can come down to about 60. Without it I am up at 80.

Hi,
I read your concern and would like to say that yes you can switch safely to bystolic, because both drugs are betablockers.
I recommend during the beginig of bystolic to monitor closely heart rate and blood pressure because bystolic has in addition a hypotensive effect.
Hope i answered your query.
