Should I Take Betablockers If Having Elevated Pulse Rate And Fainted?

I have a fairly normal blood preasure but an elevated pulse rate,110/76/107. I have had a cold and takes severa decongestants and have fainted after getting up from resting in a chair. The faints happened withing a few feet of the chair and lasted a very short time, but I did go down each time. I am considered an active handyman and 81 years old/ My doctor wants to put me on a bata-blocker but I am reluctant. What should I do?

Dear sir

Increased heart rate is one of the cardiac risk factor because more your heart rate more the work done by your heart.

Since you have elevated heart rate it will be wise for us to advice you to start on beta blocker and maintain your heart rate between 60 - 80 beats per minute

Thanks
