Should I Take More Furosemide And Elevate The Legs To Manage Severe Swelling In The Ankles?
I take 20mg of furosemide daily. I went to Florida Universal Studio and use an electric wheel chair because of the heat. I took 40mg all week. However my ankles are very swollen. I have a pace maker and an artificial mitral valve. Should I take more of the furosemide and raise my legs and if this doesn t help see my doc on Monday?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
In my opinion the ankles sweelling is caused by the heart failure. You can increase the dosage of furosemid up to 60 mg or 80 mg daily. You have to measure the blood pressure and you should consult your doctor on monday for further managment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
