Should I Undergo IUI For Conception As Ovarian Cyst Are Creating Chemical Reactions?

HELLO,

I am 28years woman. married 1 and half year ago . last year got to that i have cysts in my ovaries. I was later operated on April this year for the same and was advised to conceive at the earliest, post-surgery. Accordingly we have been trying for it, but haven't found any luck until date. Also, surprisingly it was learnt that cysts have recurred the very next month post-surgery. As on date the doctor have suggested IUI for conception, stating that cysts are creating some chemical reactions which is preventing normal ways of conception.

Pls suggest !

Hi,

According to your description I am assuming that you might have had poly cystic ovary disease and undergone ovarian drilling for that.

As there is possibility of recurrence after surgery, your doctor might have recommended to plan pregnancy as early as possible after surgery.

Poly cystic vary disease usually presents with irregular periods, anovulation, insulin resistance, infertility etc.

It is having tendency to recur. The factors that can help to prevent the recurrence are:

-Maintaining normal body mass index

-Taking regular healthy balanced diet, avoiding junk and high calorie food
-Regular calorie burning exercise.
-Regular review to assess the status of ovaries and taking treatment accordingly.

If you are having factors like irregular or absent ovulation, cervical factor, mild male factor infertility, unexplained infertility etc along with PCOD, then there is possibility that you may get benefited with IUI.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Sree Gouri SR
