Should Novelon Be Restarted Again For Recurring Acne?

hi... im Debanjana...and i am having acne problem due to hormonalimbalance..i was on novelon last year for 6 months and it cleared my face brilliantly...now i am in the UK and breaking out again...but i only have one strip of novelon with me...can i start that..take a break for a month and continue the treatment in India

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have reoccurring acne on face which occurs when a pore in your skin gets clogged, usually with dead skin cells causing the area to become red and swollen. You are already taking Novelon and was getting benefitted. You can restart for the same but do not depend on that. You can take oral tablet as well, best drug for resistant acne is isotretinoin. Apply benzoyl peroxide cream or gel for killing the bacteria in the pore.Exfoliate gently once or twice a day with a salicylic acid-based exfoliant. If condition doesn't improve in a week then consult dermatologist for proper diagnosis .Doctor may prescribe oral antibiotics like clindamycin , Isotretinoin or Hormone Therapy.
