Hi, my grandmother has diabeties. She says she has to eat every 2 hours is that true?
If her sugar level is too high at night, she gives herself more insuline than usually, but then her sugar level goes down so low that she eats strawberry jelly or sugar during the night. I dont understand the logic of that because since she's taking insuline she should'nt have to eat sugar like that! So what is it that she's doing wrong?
Dear sir i can understand your concern in my opinion your grand mother is not following a planned kind of management in diabetes. The ideal diet habits in diabetes means taking proper diet in proper time along with daily three meals we usually advise them to include a mid morning snack and a evening snack. so taking too much insulin which is not prescribed in usual dose will make hypoglycemia in elderly patients hypoglycemia is deleterious also i suggest you to visit her treating doctor and reschedule her medication. regards
