Should A Doctor Be Consulted For A Mole On The Head?
I was running in the heat yesterday for 2 hours. I had suncreen on but forgot a hat. I now have what looks like a large scaley mole on my head. I don’t even know if I had a mole there before as under the hairline but it has got really big since yesterday. It may just be a blister but it’s brown and almost hard now. I am very pale skin and do have a few moles. Should I consult my GP? I hate wasting doctors time.
Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I reckon what you have is called Polymorphous Light Eruption which is a skin manifestation after intense exposure to sun in those who are sensitive to the sun. I suggest you visit your concerned doctor or dermatologist for thorough evaluation and further guidance. I would suggest you strictly apply a broad spectrum sunscreen 20 mins before you leave the house and reapply every 3-4 hours along with using adequate sun protection wear like caps/ hats / full sleeve clothes.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
