Should A Doctor Be Consulted For A Rash On The Leg After Taking Azithromycin?

my husband is taking Azithromycin 250MG since Friday, June 8th. On Saturday I noticed a rash about 4 in diameter on his right leg. It felt very warm to the touch. The knee appears to be swollen - he says it feels like it has fluid in it. Should he call his primary care doctor and possibly stop taking the medication?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Skin rash or itching is one of the common side effects encountered with intake of Azithromycin. However, since it is associated with swelling of knee, it would be better for you to consult Physician promptly for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.

Hope I have answered your query.
