Should A Doctor Be Consulted For Nose Bleeding While On Prednisone?

I know nose bleeds are common with bronchitis I feel that s all it is. But ER had my 12 year old son 120 lb. on prednisone 60 mg for 5 days I thought that was kinda high for a kid that just got sick. I ask pharmacist they said should be ok But one of side effects say can cause internal bleeding. Should he be seen by doctor or probably just nose bleed. He still has cough hasn t had fever in 24 hours.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I don't know why you people dumping steroids in to kids blood stream. They are nothing but toxins may aggravate infection or other side effects.
Unless there's is an indication don't use it. Other they cause fluid retention, dyspnea, obesity, opportunistic infections etc.
Nose bleed in a kid may be due to nasal pricking need to apply a pressure , avoid dry environment means use moisturizer.
If symptoms not improved please consult your ENT specialist he will examine and do nasal packing and treat you accordingly.
