Hi, my Dad got hit in the shins by a baseball in the shin a couple weeks ago. The location seems to have provided a red swollen area that is various sensitive to the touch and looks like it probably has puss in it. It doesn't seem to be going away. Should we lance it?

Hi,

Don't worry it is hematoma it is the sterile collection of blood subcutaneously. After that, these blood lyses and gets resorbed within a period of 3-5 weeks.

If you observe redness or swelling or fever then you may consult your surgeon, he will examine and treat you accordingly. Please don't do anything until you consult your surgeon.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
