Should A Medical Check Up Be Done For Moles Behind The Thighs?
I have several moles on the back of my thighs should I get them checked? I was not born with them but ive had them since I was very young. One is blue the other kind of green and the other is asymmetrical and all rather large. They don t hurt, itch or bleed and have not changed shape or color in all the years I ve had them at least to my knowledge. They also all grow hair which I m told is a good thing.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
You should get them checked specially if you are fair skin and if you have a lot of moles. A change in the morphology of moles like size, shape, color, borders are the things to watch out for. A photographic record every 6-12 months is a more reliable way to monitor for any morphological changes. Having said that most of the moles never turn into a melanoma even though the risk of melanoma is more in those who have greater number of moles as compared to those who have fewer moles. The fact that your moles have not changed in morphology is indicative of the fact that they are benign but you still can have them examined every 6-12 months.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Kakkar S.
