Should An X-ray Be Taken For Severe Pain In The Ankle And Hip?

Hello my name is Therese. I have been having shooting pains while walking or even stretching my ankle out. It is coming from the bone on the inside of my ankle I believed is called the Medial Malleolus. I feels like maybe there is a nerve being pinched. Very painful and is concentrated in that area. It just started about 24 hours ago. And now am having aching pain from my hip down. Most of the aching is from knee down though. I would like to know if it could be related to my degenerated disease in my lower back or another problem and what to do about it. Do I need an MRI? Or would Xray work? But xray only shows bone and if there is a nerve being pinched it wouldn t show up on an xray..... I just started a new job an am only in 3rd week of training and am not able to take a bunch of time off to get this figured out by being sent to a bunch of different doctors for them all to say there is nothing wrong. Can i just get a wheel chair?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It might be due to arthritis.
As of now you can try analgesics like Tramadol for pain relief.
If symptoms persist, better to consult an orthopaedician and get evaluated. You have to get an X-ray or MRI scan taken.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
