Should Baby Aspirin Be Given For Atrial Fibrillation?

My son age 38 healthy but with a heart murmur as a child has had an episode of Afib .The Er gave him fluids did a cardio conversion my sons request told him he was dehydrated and stressed from moving. I am worried of course and want him to go to a cardiologist. He is setting up appt. But ....in the meantime should he take a baby aspirin? or just wait around to see if it happens again? Scared Mom

Hi,

No need to start aspirin by yourself. Consult a cardiologist and get evaluated. He may require serial EKG monitoring and echo test for further evaluation.

If there is any structural defects he might require aspirin to prevent future embolism.
