Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I broke my xiphoid process about three years ago during karate by taking a punch directly to the xiphoid. Since this time it keeps causing severe pain and at times when I eat food gets lodged at that point and causes excruciating pain until it finally passes. X-Ray shows that it defiantly is broken. Should I have it removed or like other Drs tell and just deal with it?
No getting it removed will help you ease your symptoms and avoid any future complications. Do not be under the deli ma your symptoms need treatment in the form of removal of the xiphoid broken part.
