Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Should I Be Concerned About A Bright Green Colored Bowel Movement?
Should I be concerned about a bright green colored bowel movement? I have not eaten or have not drank anything green in the last day or two that would cause this. This has occurred twice now with my last 2 movements. I do not recall ever having a movement this color. Thank you.
No,you should not be concerned much. Stool passes in a range of colors. Brown and even green color stool are often considered normal. Rarely does stool color indicate a potentially serious intestinal condition .Black or bright red colored stool indicates blood in stool which needs prompt action.
If green colored stool continues and you face other problems like fever, abdominal pain, then please meet your local doctor and get a stool R/M/E to confirm the diagnosis.
Hope this answers your query. Wish you good health.
