Should I Be Concerned About The Biopsy Wound That Got Wet In Swimming Pool?

I took my 3 year old to her first swimming lesson today. Yesterday I had some skin from my back removed after a punch mole biopsy came back positive for melanoma. I covered it with a waterproof bandage but when I got home from swimming my wound had oozed through my bandage and shirt. Should I be concerned? It was stupid to take her to the class today but I can t change it now. My back hurts a lot more then out did yesturday...I m hoping it just because it s healing.

Hello,

I read your question and understood your concern. Swimming pool harbors a lot of infectious agents, and not all get killed by chlorine. Waterproof bandage must have reduced the reach of infetious agents. But if you are not already on antibiotics after biopsy, I'd recommend you to take a course of broad spectrum antibiotic with your physician's recommendation, and apply topical antibiotic while dressing the wound. Also stay away from swimming pool for atleast a week.
Hope I was able to address your concern
