Should I Be Concerned About The Red Sticky Substance In Urine?
I just went to see my son who has diabetes type 1 who said he just went to the toilet and noticed as he was weeing he peed out a reddish sticky stuff that felt funny.. He is taking antibotics. Should I be concerned? He is 14 yrs old? Pants were sticky..
If your son is uncircumcised, the red sticky substance could be dirties mixed with blood due to UTI. The antibiotics he is using will reverse infection and other problems he is having.
I suggest to advise him to; - drink more water - avoid carbonated, energetic or other soft drinks - encourage him to limit salt intake and to eat healthy
If the symptoms won't improve until the end of the antibiotic course, should consult his doctor for further evaluation.
If he is uncircumcised, I suggest to get him circumcised at the end of the antibiotic course. Can discuss this further with his urologist.
Hope it helped! Dr.Albana
