In the last 6 months I've had a couple episodes in which I've had a twisting feeling of the muscles in the front part of my neck, located around my windpipe. (And yes, I'm usually laying down at the time). It's painful, feels like the muscles got twisted over each other and hung up on a bone or something, I don't know how else to explain it. I try to relax and it always goes away shortly, within a few minutes, but the feeling/location of the instance I can still feel for 2-3 weeks afterwards. I've researched on line and GERD is what usually comes up, but it never describes the twisting feeling and lasting feeling of effect. Most recently it happened in November. I still feel "something" in the right side of my throat that feels like something's there. But it's only on one side (same side the twisting episode always occur). WHAT causes this and is it serious?
