Should I Be Worried About Paint Inhalation?

I was spray painting and I inhaled a little tiny bit. My throat hurts a little. I drank plenty of water and I'm going to drink more. Should I be alarmed? Should I worry? My Mom said the amount I inhaled wont do anything and to drink lots of water. I'm starting to panic. Can you help me?

Hi Dear ,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have inhaled paint while spraying which is causing throat irritation to you which is little alarming. There are several potentially harmful substances in paints, depending on the type of paint being used. Most well-known toxic substances in paint are volatile organic compounds, known as VOCs which are actually responsible for ill health and inhalation of these will give systemic symptoms. I would suggest you to open windows and keep on inhaling fresh air. If any symptoms occurs consult doctor without any delay , because condition sometimes become complicated. You should start treatment after complete examination. You should drink plenty of fluids to avoid its effect.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
