Should I Be Worried About The High BP And Thudding Of Heart?

I'm 41 and overweight. I take lisiopril and clonidine for high bp. I'm on weight watchers but it's slow going. My legs pit from edema and sometimes my heart thuds about 7-8 times in a row. It really scares me. My dr did 1 EKG for 10 sec but nothing showed. It feels like he blew it off. Should I worry?

Hello
You need to see a cardiologist and be placed on a Holter monitor--a 24 hour continuous EKG--to catch this phenomenon which is probably what's called paroxysmal atrial tachycardia. You also need an echocardiogram and a stress test. The PAT can be treated either with a beta blocker or a calcium channel blocker medication
