Should I Be Worried About The Loss Of Smelling Sense After A Cold?

I am having a smelling problem.last winter I suffered from cold and cough thn it agn striked me a n jan -feb and after tgt I was unable to smell.firstly I thought its becos of cough but later I realised tht I cant smell the fragnance of anythng so I am worried about this .I have consulted the doc too but they r taking me lightly ....help me out I dnt wana lose my this sense.i read in internet tht if it is more than 4 5 weeks it may damage my sense forever...pls help me out. aashish 0000

The loss of smelling sensation following cold can be because of the degeneration of the nerve cells secondary to cold. Nothing to be panic, it is a reversible phenomenon. It takes around a week to 10 days to return back to normal. Consult an ENT surgeon and get it evaluated once.
