Should I Be Worried About The Pain In Left Hand During Pregnancy?
Hi, I've just found out that I'm pregnant , very new still my missed period was yesterday. For about the past 3 or 4 days I've had a stich like pain in my left hand side, it's not unbearable pain but I know it's there. Should I be worried about this? Thanks
Thank you for the question and thank you for visiting our site.
Pain in early pregnancy that lateralizes to one side is most likely related to the cyst on the ovary from which you ovulated. That being said, this is an opportunity to catch an ectopic pregnancy if it is present (a pregnancy in a tube). I would let your doctor know about this and ask for an HCG level now and have this repeated in 48-72 hours. 85% of normal pregnancies will show doubling of this level in the time period that I mentioned. Most ectopic pregnancies will show lagging in the doubling rate.
I hope that this helps and good luck!
Dr. Tim
