Should I Be Worried As I Am Having A Weird Electrical Shock Type Feeling In My Chest?
Hi Doctor. I'm having a weird electrical shock type feeling in my chest. toward the left side. It feels like it's coming from the heart. It's very mild and only last about 1 second or 2. It started about a week ago and I went to the ER. They have done an EGK and assured me it was not a heart attack. I thought it would have gone by now but I still feel it several times a day. What could that be? Should I worry?
Normal findings on ECG rules out any Cardiovascular pathology. However, X ray of chest should be done to rule out any Respiratory cause for your symptoms.
The symptoms as mentioned in your post can be attributed to production & accumulation of gas in the stomach, which can be secondary to increased acid formation. The reason for increased acid production can be Stress/ Anxiety, inappropriate diet & lifestyle methods or infection associated with a type of bacteria called Helicobacter pylori (H pylori).
Symptomatic relief can be obtained with intake of: 1. Proton pump inhibitors (which prevent acid formation in stomach) like Omeprazole, Pantoprazole, etc. to be taken twice a day, half an hour before meals. 2. Antacid gel can also be taken after meals for the same.
Wishing you a Good Health. Take care.
