Should I Be Worried As I Saw Some Dark Blood Like Discharge During My Pregnancy Period?
Im 34 weeks pregnant, and due to some situations with Medicaid I have not had any prenatal care. I was hospitalized for dehydration in Aug. And that's when I found out I was pregnant. But today I was using restroom and saw some dark blood that looks like old blood, should I be alarmed?
Hello and welcome to health care magic. I am Dr Nilajkumar a consultant gynecologist and I will be helping you in your queries. I understand your issues. Bleeding at 34 weeks may be due to many causes. Preterm labor pains may cause a blood stained discharge and is associated with hardening of the uterus. Premature separation of the placenta inside the uterus causes bleeding usually with severe pain. A low lying placenta that is near the cervix may cause sudden fresh bleed. Other causes not related to pregnancy may be due to cervical ectropion when the lining of the cervix is everted or polypoidal tumors of cervix that are non cancerous.
Please do not be alarmed as the bleeding was slight but it needs further testing as a sudden heavy bleed may come unprecedented. It is best that you visit a doctor and get yourself and the baby examined for the cause as soon as possible.
Thanks for using HCM. Wish you a safe delivery. Have a good day. Dr Nilajkumar Bagde Consultant Obstetrics and Gynecology
