Should I Be Worried As My Husband Is Having High Triglicerides And High Cholesterol?
Hi, my husband just got his microalbumin results reading at 602...it went down from 782 Oct.2013. It was at 284 Dec2012. Should he see a specialist? It doesn't seem to be concerning for our primary doctor but to me as his wife, it is alarming for me. He has high triglicerides and high cholesterol. I am worried. He's only 38 years old. Please advise. Thank you.
Hi, I went through your question and I understand your concerns. In general, microalbuminuria suggests a damage to kidneys, which can come from internal kidney problems or type 1/2 diabetes. My opinion is that your husband should be retested in 2-3 months and have additional tests, such as: levels of urea and creatinine, and levels of blood sugar. Regarding his age, I would recommend a fibre-rich diet (green vegetables and fruit) and 60 minutes of physical activity per day. If he is overweight, I would suggest weight loss. After maintaining these changes for 3 months, he should be tested for cholesterol and triglycieride levels again. If these changes don't suffice, then we can consider drug treatment. I hope I was helpful. Good day
