Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Should I Change My BP Medicine After Losing Weight, Dizziness And Increased BP Level?
I am taking bp meds (Tekturna) and have recently lost 40lbs. The past few days when I get up from a seated position I feel light headed/dizzy. Today I took my bp and it was 160/67, could that be the cause? Should I talk to my physician about adjusting meds?
Hi, Loosing 40 lbs in a short span is no normal. your giddiness could be due to your high blood pressure. it is also possible that you have developed postural hypotension due to the drug you are using. I would recommend you to get yourself thoroughly cHecked out for any other issues, and change in your prescription. Meanwhile, take rest, avoid sudden postural changes and reduce salt intake. All the best.
