Should I Consult A Doctor As I Am Having A Lump On The Back Of My Head And Headaches?

I slipped in the shower yesterday morning and now have a lump on the back of my head that s very tender to the touch. I felt fine yesterday and went to work as normal, but today I have a headache that s progressively getting worse over time and am starting to feel sick. Do I need to go to A&E?

Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted your symptoms. They are suggestive of mild head injury and scalp hematoma.

Scalp hematoma occurs due to collection of blood in the soft tissue under the skin over head. This would get better over time.

However, it is important to visit a doctor for complete evaluation. A CT scan of the head should also be done to exclude any internal bleeding in the brain.

I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,
