Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic
A condom protected sex is always safe in terms of STD's as compared to an unprotected sexual encounter. STD's like HIV,
Gonorrhea and Chlamydia are largely prevented by a condom.
However, a condom does not provide 100% protection against all STD's and certain STD's like
Genital Herpes, Syphilis, Genital Warts,
Molluscum contagiosum etc can still be transmitted by skin -to-skin contact with infected genital surfaces.
Therefore, I suggest you to get yourself tested for herpes and syphilis at appropriate intervals.
Testing for herpes is earliest at 2 weeks with antibody based ELISA. The
incubation period of syphilis is 21 days on an average. Syphilis can be tested earliest at 1 month with an RPR/VDRL.
I suggest you to visit a sexual health specialist for
counselling and appropriate testing.
