Should I Go For Colonoscopy If I Have Family History Of Colon Cancer?

Recently my father was diagnosed with colon cancer and had to have part of his colon removed he is 60 years old. My sister age 35 was also diagnosed with colon cancer. By the recommendation of my father's doctor and my sister's was for me to have a colonoscopy. I am 25 years old, slightly overweight, however i dont have any of the symptoms of colon cancer and i feel i am too young to get the procedure done. I was wondering what you guys feel would be the appropriate action (take the test or not?)

Hello dear , hi

Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com
I have evaluated your query thoroughly .

* Screening colonoscopy is recommended 10 years ahead from routine
screening schedule ( if one has first , second degree relative suffering
from the same ) as between 30 - 35 years .

* So I do not recommend you the colonoscopy at 25 without any
symptoms .

Hope this will clear your query .
Regards .
