Should I Take Monistat As I Have Vaginal Itching And Discomfort?

I bought Monistat 7 to treat a yeast infection. Directions on the box say to consult a dr. if I have vaginal itching and discomfort, lower abdominal pain, back pain and foul smelling discharge. I have had all of these symptoms for over a month. But no nausea, vomiting, fever or chils. It s been 20+ years since I last had a yeast infection. The discharge is different this time. It s greenish in color and watery. Not white or cheesy. No mucus.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Monistat is used to treat yeast infections. Yeast infections are normally associated with white or yellow vaginal discharge which do not usually has a smell.

The discharge is not green. This is likely due to another type of infection which would not respond to the monistat.

You would need to consider seeing your doctor for an assessment which would include examination and possibly a swab to the lab.

I hope this helps
