Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Should My Son Continue Taking Miralax Inspite Of Uncleared Feces Discharge?
my son is taking a 283 gram dose of Miralax type laxative prescribed by pediatric GI to clear out what seems to be a colon packed with poop. He has not passed as much poop as I would have expected. The instruction is to keep at it until discharge is clear. It is now a mustard brown/yellow 98% void of any matter. I suspect there may still be a pile in there. What does this color mean and should it ultimately result in almost no color discharge?
That color means your son is almost cleared out. Did the doctor talk about a preventive program to prevent another episode? Prunes is a natural laxative that might help prevent future episodes of piles when taken with adequate water (not juice) or you may use prune juice with lots of water.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
