Should One Undergo Surgery Only After One Stops Taking Oxycontin?

I have been on oxycontin 40 mg 3 a day for 5 years for arthritis. In preparing for a total shoulder replacement I have tapered down to 20 mg twice a day. My surgery is in 3 weeks. However today the surgeon told me that they would have a hard time getting my post op pain under control still. Should I postpone the surgery until I am off the oxycontin completely?

hello,
as there is still time left for the surgery, continue the medication with the lower dose.
undergo the surgery.
your body would have adapted by then.
if in case the pain does not subside or rises, then you can overcome it by taking strong pain killers...
dont worry
