Should The Chemotherapy Be Postponed For The Pain In Right Abdomen Radiating To Shoulder Blades?
I am currently undergoing chemotherapy (taxol) for stage 1 breast cancer. I have not been diagnosed with gall bladder disease but have right side pain that radiates to shoulder blades. No fever. I ve had this pain on and off for at least a year and a half. I ve had mildly elevated liver enzymes, but normal CT and Abd ultrasound. (no stones) I only have 4 weeks of chemo left. Should I wait to have further evaluation like a HIDA Scan? Could this postpone my chemo therapy?

HI
Greetings from Dr.Divakara.P Thanks for posting your query.
A normal CT scan of abdomen indicates there is no major abnormalities but still it doesn't rule out an infection. And chemotherapy in presence of infection can be very harmful.
Though there is no need to wait till HIDA scan , you can get a simple blood test called Total Leucocyte count , ESR and CRP . A significant elevation in these reports indicate and in that case you need to wait, but a normal or mild elevation in these reports you can go ahead with chemotherapy.
Hope this information is useful to you. Any clarifications feel free to ask.
Regards.
