Should The Old Coil Be Replaced Due To A Missed Period?

Hi, I have a coil which has not been replaced for 5 years, apparently this is OK? I have never had any problems with it and my periods have been very regular. However for the first time I have missed a period I am am now concerned that I have left my coil in and it does not work any more. Please advise me. Thanks
