Should Veltam Tablet For Prostate Enlargement Be Continued Even With Side Effects Of Giddiness And Stuffy Nose?
I am 48 years old male diagnised for prostate enlargement in ultrasound abdomen test and prescribed veltam 0.4mg tab 1 daily for a month. On use of tablet (first dose itself) I am feeling guiddyness/ stuffy nose etc. shall I continue it? I am scared. Pl advise. Thanks in advance.
Thank you for the query. Veltam (0.4 mg) tablets, consists of Tamsulosin (which is a alpha1a-selective alpha blocker). It is used in the treatment of Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy (prostatism). Tamsulosin can sometimes cause a drop in blood pressure (specially first dose hypotension, though this is more common in Prazosin), resulting in dizziness or fainting. Other side effects may include vertigo, headache, nasal congestion and palpitations. To avoid the dizziness and fainting, it is advisable to take the drug before going to bed at night. If the problem persists or becomes unbearable, you may consult your physician, and change of the drug may be considered. Hope this helps you.
