Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Should We Be Concerned About Lipomyelocele And Mild Neurogenic Bladder In A Child?
My 6-year-old has a lipomyelocele that has so far never required surgery. We follow with a neurosurgeon as well as with a pediatric urologist. The urologist has told me that he has a mild neurogenic bladder that he should be able to self correct as he gets older. I am trying to get him approved for a program through Comp Care and had requested his records. I received them today and seen where he has also diagnosed him with pelviectasis. He has never told me this. Is this something I need to be concerned about?
The pelviectasis is something that indicates that the child did not have just a neurogenic bladder, but a mild degree of reflux. I think you need to continue his follow ups with a urologist. In my opinion, nothing needs to be done as the reflux was mild and has not caused any further kidney problems or infection.
