Should We Go For Iron Affinity Test During Pregnancy?
hello doctor , my wife is 33 week pregnant last week her hb count was 9.3 after which doctor adviced us for go for a iron affinity test after 1 week hb level doesnot increase, today we test again the hb level and it is found out 9.8, so should we go for iron affinity test

Normal Hb for a pregnant women is above 11 gm/dl. As you wife has a Hb of 9.8 she is anemic. Iron affinity test is not necessary as supplementing iron tablets (100mg of elemental iron) daily will be sufficient to raise her Hb above 11 gm/dl at the time of delivery. Hope that answers your question.
