Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Should We Seek Medical Attention After A Teenager Accidentally Takes Lamictal Pill Along With Prescribed Lexapro And Adderall?
My 17 year old daughter accidentally took one of my lamictal pills (200 mg). She took her own prescribed Lexapro (20 mg) and Adderall (15 mg) 5 hours earlier. She is not prescribed lamictal and has never taken it before. Do we need to seek medical attention?
I am sorry to know about the mishap, but it can have serious consequences. Yes, she needs to be under observation. You should keep your medicines and your daughter's medicines separately. At higher doses, such as 200 mg or more, the likelihood of side effects like dizziness, drowsiness, insomnia, fatigue, and coordination issues can increase.
If you notice a rash developing, you should seek immediate medical help. In case your daughter shows any such symptoms as mentioned or some other mood variations, you are advised to get her clinically examined in the ER so that she can help urgent medical aid and support.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
