Should We Stop Benicar And Ciprofloxacin Due To Side Effects?

My husband was just in the hospital for a blocked bile duct. While there they switched him from Benicar HCT to Benicar 40 mg and also gave him Ciprofloxacin HCL 500 mg. He is very tired, not acting like himself, sleeping on and off all day and developed a welt like rash on his stomach and back after waking up today that was very itchy. The rash has now gone away. I m concerned he s had an allergic reaction and should stop one or both of these immediately but don t know if I m over reacting .

Benicar hct ( olmesartan hydrochlorthiazide ) was initially prescribed for high blood pressure .
Now , they switched it only on olmesartan 40 mg along ciprofloxacin 500 mg .
On day one after the use of these 2 drugs , your husband developed tiredness, sleeping welt like rashes .
But you din't mention , why doctor prescribed ciprofloxacin as this is an antibiotics . This produces rashes , tiredness etc . So you can stop ciprofloxacin , keep continue benicar 40 mg .
You are not over reacting .
But medicine for BP is important while for ciprofloxacin substitute ,consult your treating doctor and get his opinion.
