Sick With Tonsillitis. Lips Are Sore And Bleeding. Worry?

Hello.. My one year old son has been very sick with tonsillitus over the past five days.. He s had antibiotics for four of them days.. And some other medicines for his temperature .. But there s been no change.. If anything I feel he s gettin worse.. because his lips have become very very sore and they are bleeding and he seems to have lost his voice.. Why is this.. Is it normal while he has tonsillitus?.. Please help.. I m a very very worried mom x

Welcome to HealthcareMagic forum

The soreness and the bleeding from the lips is due to the mucosal inflammation following administration of the antibiotics. This does not happen with everyone who is having tonsillitis. It could be reaction to some medicines. You need to consult your doctor (preferably a specialist) at the earliest for a thorough evaluation and change of the antibiotics.

Also, give your child plenty of warm water to drink, glycerine can be applied over the lips to prevent dryness and the inflammation.
