Side Effects Of Taking Atorvastatin Medication?

Hello Doctor, Had triple bypass 9 months ago. Feel fine. Am on 40 mg Atorvastatin daily for high cholesterol. When I walk briskly for 1 kilometer have slight pain in right hip joint. Is this perhaps caused by the statin, and what other side effects can I expect later on by taking this medication.
Thank you,
Jop Fourie.

Hello,
Atorvastatin is cholesterol lowering agent and yes this medicine can cause muscle cramps or pain as you are feeling. But its a very effective and useful treatment to control your cholesterol.Every medicine has its own uses as well as side effects but your doctor decide the correct medicine for you considering all these factors. In this case you must not think of stopping or changing this medicine. But tell your doctor if you experience some side effects so that he can assess the problem well. For your information headache, nausea, stomach upset are some of the common side effect of his medicine. So follow your doctors guidelines.stay healthy.
Thank you
