Small Bumpy Areas Over The Disolvable Stitches At The Hairline On Neck After Facelift
I had a facelift 6 weeks ago. Just this week the small bump areas over the dissolvable stitches at the hairline on my neck have started growing into bigger red bumps. One in particular is larger, kind of hard and is sore when I sleep on my back. What are these bumps? Is this unusual? Why would I be getting them so long after surgery? I have an appt with my ps a week from today. Can I wait till then to have the bumps checked? In the meantime is there anything I should do - apply warm wet compresses, apply ointment, hydrogen peroxide, etc?? Thanks!
I would keep a possibility of a Hypertrophic scar/Keloid scar. It is due to excessive scar tissue formation. People those who develop them usually have an inherited genetic tendency to hypertrophic/keloid scar.
Symptoms can be a feeling of tightness, itching, pain and sometimes oozing.
I would advice that you use a silicone gel sheet dressing or silicone/polysiloxane gel, twice daily for a few weeks to months to flatten and soften them up.
If this proves insufficient, then intralesional Steroid infections works good to flatten them up
