Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Small Child, Congenital Defect, Fluid Filled Cyst On Back, Peritoneal Fluid Collection. Normal Symptoms?
my 2 month baby has a congenital defect. She is having a fluid filled cyst like growth on her back (to the right hand side). On clinical examination doctors said it is a peritoneal fluid collection and it is below the skin but above the muscular layer. I want to know whether it will disappear by itself or want any treatment. My feeling is that it shows a relative increase in size by these 2 months. Is it normal for such a cyst.
It shall be difficult for me to guide you on this query as a few points are not clear:
1. Where in the back is the cyst? Back can range from the head to the tail bone area. The area can also range from the spine to the side.
2. Peritoneal fluid collection is very unlikely because if there is a peritoneal fluid then the abdomen should also have been bloated.
I suggest you upload all the reports for us to review and advise you accordingly.
I hope I have responded to your query to your satisfaction. Please revert in case you require any clarifications.
