Hi. My kid ( 1.5 year and 12.2 KG) was doing great but suffering from cough , running nose and fever ( changing between 99.3 to 102) in this couple of days. My doctor has asked me to wait for 3 days. Although he is not coughing much but very much heavy running nose and eyes wet and fever continuing. givng him ambrolite-expectorant, Crocin & Attrax drops)
hi nishant
its important that such child should be treated preferably with a combination of paracetamol, decongestant and antihistaminic drugs like say sinarest, maxtra=p, recofast plus, nozuka etc.
child will be irritable as long as nose is stuffy. ambrolite and atarax may not be that useful in these kids. discuss with your doctor and may show a peint out of this to your doctor. Your doctor may issue a prescription based on this, often doctors prescribe such syrups with dose 5 ml two times a day,
often there can be serious infections underlying such fever and nose like say measles, or dengue fever. its important to get the child examined and investigated and treated accordingly.
Hi,symptoms which you are telling are indicative of common cold viral infection.Treatment which I would suggest you is to
1.Give him plenty of fluids
2.Syrup paracetamol for fever
3.Bed Rest
4.Steam inhalation for cough (caution should be taken while giving steam, child should be in mother lap place 2 pillows one over other in front of you and place steamer other side ,cover both mother baby with some bed sheet , take steam 10 minutes this way 4- 5 times a day)
5.you can give some antiallergic like atarax for running nose but it can make your child sleepy.
Make appointment with pediatrician if child
1.become dull/decrease activity
2. not accepting orally
3.fever not relived by medicines
4.have breathlessness/difficulty in breathing
wish your baby good health
