Small Child, Ear Infection, Redness In Throat, Fever, Nasal Discharge. Medical Attention Required?
my 10 month old went ot the doc last friday and she has an ear infection and red throat . at that time had no temp but yesterday started with low grade temp and last night had a temp of 100.6 and very fussy and runny nose . This morning checked it and it was 96.5. should I take her in? she has been on her antibiotic since Friday night.

your child is suffering from viral fever with superimposed bacterial pharyngitis along with otittis media.
since antiobiotic is started she will respond soon . complete the course of antibiotic . and just add nasal decongestent for running nose

Your child was having respiratory infection which could be viral or bacterial in nature and takes few days to settle.
As you mentioned that fever is now settled so relax.complete course of antibiotics as advised,give antiallergic like benadryl as per dosage.
Give her plenty of fluids,lukewarm water ,hot soups.

You continue her prescribed medication as per the Pediatrician advise.
At present the temperature is low so dont give paracetamol and cover the child with clothes to provide warmth and check temperature after 10 to 15 minutes.
Observe her activity, oral intake, urine output and if you find any problem consult again your doctor for re-examination and for appropriate management.
