Small Child, Hives On Face, Spreading To Rest Of Body. Due To Flu Shot?
My 7 month old daughter got her 2nd dose of her flu shot on Thursday. Today, Saturday afternoon, she started getting hives on her face and now it is spreading to the rest of her body. No changes in eating, no fever , she is happy and playful, but with a bunch of hives. I didn t change soaps/detergents or anything else. Could it be from her flu shot?
It is very unusual to have hives from the flu shots and I have yet to come across a similar case in my practice.
There can be other causes of hives and I would suggest that you consult your doctor for it. In the interim you can put your daughter on promethazine syrup 1.5-2 ml. three times a day.
I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.
Hi
The hives are due to allergic reaction and least likely due to flu shot as it is given 2 days back. It is due do some kind of allergy and you can give oral antihistamine and apply calamine externally after consulting your Pediatrician.
