Small Child, Lump On Shoulder, Below Neck, No Pain On Touching. Causes?
My 5 1/2 month old daughter has a lump on the top right side of her shoulder , just below her neck . It is not an extremely hard knot and does not seem to hurt or bother her when you touch it. She has always been healthy and has had regular check-ups where her doctor has said she was fine. I have a doctor s appoint on Tuesday but was wondering if this is something that should be looked at ASAP.

At this age most common cause of swelling at this site is due to lymph node.You have not mentioned when did you notice the swelling as it may be due to some congenital causes like branchial cyst and cystic hygroma. All these swellings are benign in nature but need evaluation. So I would suggest you to first consult a pediatrician and if needed you may have to consult a pediatric surgeon also.
