Small Child, Unable To Pass Urine, Bladder Inflammation. Inserted Catheter In Penis. Cure?
My 2 year old son is unable to urinate and has a full bladder doctors say he has a bladder inflammation and they had to insert a cathater in his penis to release the urine . They sent us home and asked us to wait 6 hours to see he is able to pass urine but the same thing is happ again. He is in excruciating pain and is unable to urinate. I just don t get it!
Your son is apparently has features of cystitis which is an inflammation of the urinary bladder.collection of urine in the bladder for a long can cause features of uraemia wherein waste products accumulate in the body and can cause damage to the vital organs. therefore his urine was drained by a catheter. If the symptoms are still persisiting he needs a few investigations to rule out any mechanical obstruction in the urinary flow or else in case of cystitis urine culture report and sensitivity needs to be done .
To begin with:
1. USG abdomen
2. urine culture and sensitivity
3. urine routine workup
Final diagnosis can be made after these reports are ready
Thank you
Hi,
Thanks for your query,
Acute retention of urine can be caused by
infection,calculus,meatal stenosis,anterior and posterior uretheral valves,blood clot,
he needs to be evaluated, urine routine examination, urine culture,CBC,ultrasound abdomen needs to be done.
I will advise you to get him evaluated by pediatric urologist,he needs to be investigated and managed accordingly.
Hello I have gone through your complaints. The most common cause that has to be ruled out is bladder caliculi. Any inflammation of the urinary bladder has to be checked for. Other most common cause for the acute onset of urinary retention is early toilet training where your child will get confused how to hold the urine. The first step is that if there are any stressful factors they have to be checked for. Your child needs more tender loving care. Next please do complete urine examination and urine culture sensitivity. If it is normal then you have to go for ultrasound abdomen and other imaging studies.
Thank you. Good day
