Smelling Foul Smell Like Stale Cigarette, Worsens When Bending Down
I am getting a nasty smell around me which I first thought was my hair but now think maybe it s my nose. It s worse when I move my head especially if I bend down. No-one else smells it - just me. I find the smell repulsive but don t know what it is or why it s happening. I can only describe it as a sweet sickly smell a bit like stale cigarette odour. I googled smoke smell and It came up with brain tumour. I am waiting for doctor appointment on tuesday. Please help
First of all, do not get concerned with the possibility of having Brain tumor. The symptoms in your post can be attributed to: 1. Sinusitis. 2. Pathology in the Olfactory pathway 3. Poor hygiene 4. Intake of certain medications like Metronidazole, etc.
Management involves: 1. Steam inhalation. 2. Antibiotics based on culture & sensitivity reports. 3. Antihistamines like Allegra can also be used. 4. Maintenance of proper oral & nasal hygiene.
If symptoms still persist...it will be better to consult an ENT specialist. Investigations like complete blood count & X ray of para-nasal sinus will be helpful.
Meanwhile...avoid taking cold food & drinks, maintain adequate hydration & take soft, non-spicy foods. Wish you a good health. Take care.
